PREFACE :- The united Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Oraganisation (WESCO) would heritage are tectonic places of cultural or natural heritage as described in the UNESCO world heritage established in 1977.



There are 38 world heritage sites located in India. These include 30 cultural sites seven natural sites or one mixed sites. India has the six largest number of sites in the world.

(1) The Tajmahal :-
The Tajmahal is the one of the seven wonder of the world and is a beautiful site which was commission by Shah Jahan in 1631 in the reverence of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. This building shows the architecture of Mughal Empire.



(2) Sun Temple :- 
The most notable marvel is the stately sun temple, build in 1250AD during the reign of the Eastern Ganga King Narasinghdeba- 1 (AD 1238-1264) to enshrine image of sun. 



(3) Qutb Complex, New Delhi :- 
Qutb Minar in red and buffs sand stone is the highest tower in India. Qutbud- Din-Aibak laid the foundation of Minar in 1199 AD.



(4) Red Fort Complex :- 
This fort was built as the place fort of Shahjanbad the new capital of 5th Mughal Emperor of India, Shahjhan 1628-1658. It gets its name from its massive enclosing walls of reds and stone.  



(5) Ajanta Caves :- 
The world famous Ajanta caves including the unfinished one are in thirty in number of which five (9,10,19,26,29) are Chaitya Grihas and the rest are Vihars(Monasteries).  



(6) Mahabalipuram :- 
Mahabalipuram or Mammallapuram the city of mammilla is named after the title of great Pallava ruler Narasimahaverman (630-668 AD).


(7) Nanda Devi and Valley of Flowers National Park :- 
It is one of the most spectacular wilderness areas in the Himalayas. It is the India second highest mountain.  


(8) Buddhist monuments at Sanchi:- 
Imposing Stupa -1 with four gateways and railings made at Sanchi a world famous Buddhist site. 


(9) Mountain Railways in India :- 
Still operational today, these hill passenger railways crossing regions of great beauty are outstanding example of Bold, Ingenious engineering solutions.


(10) Mahabodhi Temple, Boudhgaya :-
The Mahabodhi Temple complex is one of the four holy sides, related to the life of lord Buddha, and particularly to the attainment of enlightenment. The first temple was build by emperor Ashok in 3" Century BC. 


Conclusion :- 
Indian Tourism promotes national integration, it has grown substantially over last three decades. It also helps in the development of International understanding.
